A Seminar on "Role of Branding in Banking Industry" at DBA

A Seminar on "Role of Branding in Banking Industry" organized by the Department of Business Administration was held at DBA premise on 18 August 2015.

Javed Iqbal, Senior Vice President, Head, Brand Marketing and Corporate Affairs, United Commercial Bank Limited (UCBL) and Executive Officer Saiful Islam Khan were invited Guest speakers.

The seminar was chaired by Professor Shahriyar Anam, Head of the Department of Business Administration. Ms. Afia Muqtadir and Ms. Leena M. Chowdhury took the initiative to organize the program involving students of 8th semester (Marketing Major).

The topic "Branding" is immensely important and crucial for long-term survival for any organization. The speakers eloquently conveyed this message and added that Branding in the banking sector is not practiced to the extent it should be in Bangladesh. UCBL strives to establish it as a brand through differentiation, exclusive promotions, and unitedly believing in, living in and reaching a common goal leading towards branding the bank.

The chairperson expressed that knowing practical application of branding in the banking industry can be beneficial for the students and faculty members as well. It was clearly understood by all that Branding is not just the name, or sign, or logo, or patent rights etc. but it certainly is a lot more. Branding is a package of tangible and intangible items concentrating on the perception customers carry in their thought process.

DBA faculties and students attended the program.
